Houseboating is a popular recreational activity for people of all ages. Ideal for gathering large groups of friends and families, a houseboat vacation offers a stress-free option packed full of fun from beginning to end. From jet skiing to fishing, there’s something for each member of your crew to enjoy.

If you’ve never rented a houseboat before, you’re probably wondering what it entails. To help you better prepare for your Cottonwood Cove trip, we’re going to answer some commonly asked questions about where to begin, which boat to choose and what to bring.

Q: What should I do first before I make my reservation?

A: Before booking your trip, it’s important to pick the right marina and lake that fits your needs. Take a look at our Boats Page. Decide what time of year you’d like to visit. Summer is generally our busiest season, so if you’re looking to have a quieter time, we suggest booking during the winter or early spring.

Q: What is there to do for fun on and off the boat?

A: Plenty! You can rent additional watercraft, fish (with a valid fishing license), hike, swim, hang out by the beach, and so much more. If you’re planning on fishing, make sure to bring your own gear and research fishing limits in advance.

Q: What is the most popular and practical houseboat?

A: That largely depends on the number of people you’ll bringing. Families generally rent the 59’ Deluxe or the 60’ Eagle. Both houseboats sleep 10 comfortably (maximum 12) and come equipped with a full kitchen, TV, water slide, plus a canopy top and wet bar on the sun deck. The 60’ Eagle includes additional amenities such as DirecTV satellite and upgraded interior décor.

Q: I will be staying on a houseboat for the first time, what should I bring?

A: There’s a great checklist you can find here. In addition to the general necessities, we suggest bringing wet wipes for easy cleanup, as well as games to play!

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Yes—but it depends on the marina you choose. There is a $100 pet fee if you are visiting the Antelope Point Marina at Lake Powell, for instance. For more information about pet restrictions at the specific marina you’re visiting, please call 1-800-255-5561.

Choose from five different Cottonwood Cove houseboat rental marinas located on some of the most impressive waterways in the western U.S. Each marina offers unique amenities, as well as friendly hospitality and quality services to help make your next boat trip fun and safe.
